Labor Linearity

Labor Linearity
A philosophy for flexibly manning a production process (in particular a cell) so that the number of operators increases or decreases with production volume. In this way, the amount of human effort required per part produced can be very nearly level (linear) as volume changes. Toyota calls this concept a “flexible manpower line.”
